In response to vast over cutting of forest on the Eastern Shore, we, the undersigned, call upon the provincial government to designate under the Wilderness Areas protection Act the proposed Ship Harbour Long Lake Wilderness Corridor and Crown lands west of Liscomb River Wilderness area, to Seloam lake in the Liscomb Game Sanctuary.

The Corridor area located between White Lake and Tangier Grand on the Eastern Shore is recognized as one of the great wildernesses of Nova Scotia. Liscomb was once intended as a Provincial Park because of it's exceptional beauty, fishing and tourism opportunities. The provincial government is allowing both areas to be aggressively clear cut.

Protection of these areas would not limit existing patterns of hunting, fishing, camping, canoeing and would bring many economic rewards to the Eastern Shore. More Wilderness Areas in this region are required to meet outstanding Provincial Government commitments.

We call upon the Nova Scotia Government to act immediately to designate these lands under the Wilderness Areas Protection Act.
